Florida gaming regulators urge responsible betting as football season ramps up

With college and professional football seasons underway, Florida gaming regulators are urging bettors to know their limits and recognize the warning signs of problem gambling.The Florida Gaming Control Commission said the beginning of football season can bring increased interest in sports wagering, particularly among college students who may be managing their own money for the first time.“Football brings excitement and fun to our state and communities, and for some, the thrill of placing a wager,” FGCC Chair Julie Brown said. “We encourage everyone to play responsibly if they choose to gamble.”What sports betting is legal in Florida?Online sports wagering in Florida is generally legal only through sportsbooks operated by or in conjunction with the Seminole Tribe of Florida, according to the Florida Gaming Control Commission.
