Hispanic Heritage Month officially began Tuesday, kicking off a month of celebrations across Central Florida.The annual observance runs from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 and recognizes the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.Orange County commissioners recognized Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month during Tuesday’s commission meeting and said this year’s theme is “Unidos, Somos Más,” or “Together, We Are More.”“The contributions of our Hispanic and Latino communities have helped shape the character and spirit of Orange County,” Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said in a statement announcing the county’s celebrations. “Their heritage is woven into the story of who we are today.” There are some events that are already planned across Central Florida.Hispanic Heritage Month Art ExhibitionThe City of Orlando kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month Tuesday with an opening reception for its annual Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition at Orlando C
