A week can make a big difference at the intersection of Apopka Boulevard and Sheeler Avenue, where residents who once questioned when unfinished pedestrian safety improvements would be completed are now seeing crews put the finishing touches on new crosswalks. And Orange County Public Works confirms those residents helped speed things up.In a written response to News 6 on Thursday, October 29, the county confirmed that work originally scheduled for completion November 6 was accelerated, with crosswalk markings and pedestrian signals now expected to be fully installed and operational by the end of Friday, October 30.The reason, according to county officials, was concern from the community.“The work was expedited due to resident concerns with the delay in project delivery,” Orange County Public Works stated. That acknowledgment comes one week after News 6 reported on concerns from pedestrians who said they were uncomfortable navigating the intersection without completed crosswalk markings
